Some of you might be wondering what is Crossing Borders Youth Camp for? The vision and purpose for this camp is to support Deaf/Hard of Hearing youth aged 13-17 years old to develop their self-esteem, personal and leadership skills as well as expanding and building their friendship networks. At the camp, participants will be involved with teamwork building workshops, outdoor adventure activities and environment education. The program itself is designed to be entertaining, caring, and challenging with a variety of activities. For many Deaf/Hard of Hearing youths, attending camps is a difficult experience due to communication barriers so this camp’s goal is to provide all with a camp that is accessible and empowering for youths.

Using Your NDIS for Camp Registration (18/01/2023)

Transcript:Hi everyone! This video is for those with an NDIS plan and how to use it to pay for camp registration. Check that your child has an NDIS plan, look through their plan and check if it has one of the three funding categories: core funding, social and participation funding, or capacity funding. If it has one of those, then NDIS can definitely pay for camp registration. But the process of how to depends on your plan; whether you are self-managed, plan-managed or NDIA managed. If yours is one of the latter two: plan-managed or NDIA-managed then you need to check with them first for approval before proceeding to use your NDIS funding. Once it is approved then you can go ahead and use it. If you are self-managed it is easy, you can straightaway use your funding through two options. You can either register and pay for your child's camp registration then receive an invoice to submit to NDIS to be reimbursed. The second option is to request for an invoice first to claim with NDIS and get the money reimbursed first before paying for registration. If you need an invoice - please email me at [email protected]. If you are plan-managed or self-managed you do not need to check with your LAC for permission to use the funding.
